Tarlow Design LLC’s fully equipped prototype shop lets us quickly build and test your consumer product's essential components to ensure that reality matches your dream. Once the main product features have been tested and confirmed, we can do detailed design and engineering work on our Solidworks 3D CAD software to see all the parts from every angle. We can also do product styling to create beautiful, life-like product renderings.
Once the parts are drawn in the computer, each component can be converted into physical reality using 3D printing technology. 3D printing lets us make parts from various materials, from soft and rubbery to extremely tough and rigid. We also can produce parts from CNC machining or water-jet cutting. Our in-house vacuum-forming machine lets us make sample housings and other parts quickly and economically.
OUR PRODUCT MANUFACTURING PARTNERS
We have worked with manufacturers in Mexico, China, Taiwan, India and Vietnam. We are happy to report that recently, it has become more affordable to make products in the U.S. because, as the cost of labor increases in developing countries, the cost differential between U.S. factories and overseas factories decreases. Some of our U.S. manufacturing sources have relations with sister companies in China so that the U.S. company can manufacture initial production runs and, as volume demands increase, can shift over to Chinese production.
Some clients require a concise production run before going into full production. In these cases, we have resources to produce between five and five hundred units so that potential store buyers can make purchasing decisions and write a purchase order that can be filled with the first large production run.
Clients also need their products' parts to be assembled, packaged, and shipped. Tarlow Design LLC has relations with “Fulfillment Houses” that perform these tasks. We even have access to fulfillment services that employ mentally disabled people who are perfectly capable of performing simple assembly tasks.
A PROTOTYPE COMPANY WITH MORE THAN 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Tarlow Design LLC has made prototypes for toys, cooking products, electronic gadgets, organizer products, medical products, exercise products, health and beauty items, and home products of all sorts, including cleaning and lighting products. We have also made prototypes of commercial products, including a machine that cools canned drinks from room temperature to 42 degrees F, which the Navy has used to replace labor-intensive vending machines.
The product development process tends to go back and forth between CAD design and physical prototype until the ideal solution is achieved. A prototype engineer's challenge is arriving at the final design with as little iteration as possible, thereby saving significant time and expense.
